Special Ed Hearings Summer 2016

Special Ed Hearings Summer 2016

The New Hampshire State Board of Education is holding three public hearings on the proposed revisions to the New Hampshire Rules for the Education of Children with Disabilities (EducationRul e 1100) and invites the public to comment. The first two public hearings will occur on Thursday, June 16 at 11am and at 6pm at the Department of Education, 101 Pleasant Street, Concord. The third hearing will be part of the State Board of Education’s monthly meeting on Thursday, July 14 at 10am also at the Department of Education, 101 Pleasant Street, Concord.

The NH Rules for the Education of Children with Disabilities are New Hampshire’s special education regulations. They include important rights and protections that support parent involvement in the special education process, and they provide clear timelines and procedures to assist parents, schools, and school districts to understand and participate effectively in the special education process.

Written comments may be sent to the Department of Education by letter or email by July 22, 2016 with attention to Diana Fenton, Staff Attorney, NH Department of Education, 101 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301. Diana can be reached via email at diane.fenton@doe.nh.gov.
